What happens in the slimming
Last few years have seen a fast growth of slimming centres and health centres. What actually happens in these centres is not known to the general public. When a person visits any of these centres for weight reduction, first of all, his/her weight is measured. Afterwards with the help of the fat mobilizing machine, heating pads, steam and sauna etc. they simply increase the BMR of a person. We all know that with an increase in BMR more of calories get the brunt. During this hour-long session in dry heat and being bare- bodied the client loses about 1 litre of fluid due to insensible perspiration. As a result after a session of 1 hour or so a patient will land up with 1 kg weight reduction. As they do not still know about the calories some clients believe that this weight reduction is due to those machines. Many of these centres use photography tricks to show slimming in their advertisements.
Then a very high fibre and low-calorie diet chart are advised to the client by the dieticians. After going home the client drinks a lot of water and gains back the fluid lost during the session.
They then follow the dietary advice and lose 1 kg in the next one week by dieting. When they come for the next session it makes them feel happy to know that they have the same weight as seen at the end of the last session. This goes on till the client keeps on giving money and keeps attending the slimming sessions. Once a target weight reduction is achieved client stops visiting the centre. After a period of a few months, the patients again starts putting on weight.
