Foods that have a high content of fiber has been shown to reduce the blood pressure. Fibers are also called roughage and are never absorbed from the intestine. High fiber foods are also low in calories and suit obese high BP patients.
Antioxidants are vitamins and micronutrients – which also help to prevent atherosclerosis and thus indirectly help to reduce high Blood pressure. These vitamins called Vitamins A, Vitamin C and Vitamin E and chemicals called chromium, zinc, copper, manganese, molybdenum are supposed to prevent hardening of the arteries and retard aging as well.
High BP patients must increase the intake of foods which have fibers and antioxidants.
